"The United States and Canada are continuing negotiations today on softwood lumber.

"Ambassador Portman has taken a keen interest in trying to resolve this longstanding dispute.

"While this is a highly complex negotiation, we believe that both sides are serious about seeking a long term resolution.

"We are still early in this process, but so far, the talks have been constructive."
