United States Trade Representative Ron Kirk visited Miami and Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on September 23-24, talking about the significance of exports in creating and supporting jobs in South Florida. Ambassador Kirk discussed pending trade agreements and President Obama’s National Export Initiative, which aims to create two million jobs nationwide by doubling American exports to the world.
Ambassador Kirk also joined area business leaders for a regional economic development breakfast to discuss how international trade can benefit Florida companies and help create new jobs. In the afternoon, he addressed the Miami Chamber of Commerce and toured the U.S. Export Assistance Center. While in the area, Ambassador Kirk met with local elected officials, small business owners and workers.
