Maryland, September 2010
United States Trade Representative Ron Kirk was in Baltimore on September 20 to talk about the significance of exports in creating and supporting jobs in Maryland. Ambassador Kirk discussed President Obama’s National Export Initiative, which aims to support two million jobs nationwide by doubling American exports to the world, and the U.S.-Korea Free Trade Agreement. While in Baltimore, Ambassador Kirk also toured the Port of Baltimore.
Also on September 20, Ambassador Kirk met Maryland business leaders and workers for a roundtable discussion on how trade affects Maryland companies and jobs, and toured Marlin Steel Wire Products – a local business that has added jobs in Maryland thanks to increased exports to China.
