U.S.-Morocco FTA Signing Ceremony Rescheduled for June 15, 2004
06/07/2004

WASHINGTON – The Office of the United States Trade Representative announced today that the signing of the United States-Morocco Free Trade Agreement (FTA) scheduled for Friday, June 11, 2004, has been postponed until next week.

The decision to postpone the signing ceremony was taken out of respect for former President Ronald Reagan, whose funeral will take place Friday morning at the Washington National Cathedral.

After consultations with the government of Morocco, it has been agreed that the FTA will be signed on Tuesday, June 15, at 3:30 p.m. in the Benjamin Franklin Room, U.S. Department of State, Washington, D.C. U.S. Trade Representative Robert B. Zoellick will sign on behalf of the United States, and Minister-delegate for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Taib Fassi Fihri will sign for Morocco.

Media wishing to cover the ceremony must register by email with name, affiliation, date of birth, and social security or passport number to jdefino@ustr.gov before 5 p.m. on June 11.
