USTR Portman Announces New Speechwriter

WASHINGTON - United States Trade Representative Rob Portman today announced Steve Norton will join USTR as a speechwriter.

"I am very pleased to welcome Steve to our team," said Portman. "He has a proven talent for presenting complex trade issues in a clear and compelling way.  He will make immediate contributions to our efforts to communicate the benefits of trade both domestically and internationally."

Mr. Norton will be responsible for crafting speeches and statements for USTR Portman.

For the past three years, Mr. Norton has covered trade, tax and other economic issues facing Congress for Congressional Quarterly.  With over 20 years of experience as a professional chronicler of policy making, Mr. Norton has previously written for LEGI-SLATE, an on-line news service owned by the Washington Post Company, and National Journal’s CongressDaily. 

He is a 1985 graduate of Trinity College in Hartford and received a master’s degree from the Columbia Graduate School of Journalism in 1995. He lives in Washington with his wife Alison Feighan and their children Lincoln and Rose.
