Statement from Ambassador Tai on Asian American and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander Heritage Month

May 01, 2021

WASHINGTON – Ambassador Katherine Tai today released the following statement celebrating Asian American and Native Hawaiian/ Pacific Islander Heritage Month

“This month is a time to celebrate the diverse heritage of the Asian American and Native Hawaiian/ Pacific Islander community and our contributions to both the United States and the world. I am honored and humbled to represent the larger community in the Biden-Harris Administration through my role as the United States Trade Representative. It is a privilege to serve in a historically diverse and inclusive cabinet that reflects the power of possibility that is exemplified by the people of our country.

“We must acknowledge, confront, and address the increase in discrimination and attacks that the AANHPI community has experienced over the past year by working together. Through it all, we will Build Back Better by developing an innovative approach to trade policy that engages new stakeholders, finds new solutions to the broad challenges we face, and puts workers and communities at the center of our decision-making.”
