Statement from USTR Spokesperson Adam Hodge on AUSTR for Africa Constance Hamilton's Meetings in Kenya

May 10, 2022

Assistant United States Trade Representative for African Affairs Constance Hamilton led a delegation of U.S. officials to Kenya from May 3rd to May 6th and held several successful meetings with officials in the Kenyan government.  The discussions covered a wide range of topics and helped identify key areas of convergence that deepened mutual understanding between both countries.

In December 2021, Ambassador Katherine Tai and Kenyan Cabinet Secretary Betty Maina agreed to pursue efforts to deepen the United States – Kenya trade relationship in a manner that benefits workers, attracts investment, and promotes regional economic integration.  USTR staff were joined on the trip to Kenya by officials from the Departments of State, Labor, Commerce, and Agriculture.
