WASHINGTON – President Trump secured expanded access to Australia’s market for U.S. fresh and frozen beef, scoring a historic win for American ranchers. For over two decades, Australia imposed non-scientific barriers on U.S. beef, closing off a critical market. Thanks to President Trump’s leadership, Australia opened its market to U.S. beef, scoring a major win for U.S. ranchers.

The announcement was immediately met with praise from American ranchers, stakeholders, and lawmakers:

National Cattlemen’s Beef Association President and Nebraska Cattleman Buck Wehrbein: For 20 years, U.S. beef was denied access to Australia while Australia exported $29 billion of beef to U.S. consumers. The lack of two-way, science-based trade has been a sticking point for many years, and we are pleased that President Trump has successfully opened the Australian market to American beef. NCBA has spent decades working to correct this trade imbalance and we are proud to have a President who is willing to fight for American farmers and ranchers, expand export markets, and fix unfair trade agreements across the world.

Meat Institute: We are grateful to @POTUS for this big win for U.S. beef exports. We are proud to have worked with our Australian counterparts and with the Trump Administration to further risk/science-based trade.

Senator John Barrasso: This is a tremendous day for American ranchers who’ve been blocked from selling our beef to Australia. After repeatedly sounding the alarm on this unfair trade barrier, I’m pleased our strong ally Australia worked closely with the Trump administration to right this wrong. Ranchers in Wyoming will now have access to a larger market to sell our high-quality and safe American beef.

Senator Roger Marshall: For decades, American ranchers have been trying to sell their beef to Australia. @realDonaldTrump has found a way to break through and gain access for America's beef industry. This is the Golden Age of America!

Senator Steve Daines: Thank you @POTUS, @USTradeRep & @SecRollins - this is a win for U.S. beef.

Senator James Lankford: For the first time in 20 years, Australia is open to American beef – thanks to @POTUS. As one of the top beef producing states in the U.S., this is big for Oklahoma cattle farmers and ranchers.

House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Jason Smith: Another historic win for America’s ranchers and farmers thanks to President Trump’s leadership. To be clear, U.S. beef is and has been safe and healthy, and Australia should have acknowledged as much long ago. However, it clearly took President Trump’s unprecedented commitment to restoring fairness to America’s trade relationships to reach this result. I appreciate the cooperation by Australia to see this process through to completion and look forward to more wins for American agriculture under the Trump Administration’s proactive, pro-America trade negotiations.

Representative Marlin Stutzman: After @POTUS’s tariff and my Protect American Beef Act pressured the country to reverse their unfair trade practices, Australia announced it will start accepting U.S. beef imports for the first time in YEARS!

Representative Adrian Smith: While Australia is a valuable trading partner, their long-standing restrictions on U.S. beef were neither right nor reciprocal. The removal of these unscientific and unfair barriers, while long overdue, sends a strong message regarding the safety and quality of American agriculture products. This progress shows what can be achieved when a president is fully engaged and willing to stand up for American farmers and ranchers. I thank President Trump and his entire administration for their work to address this matter.

Representative Rudy Yakym: Earlier this year I brought this Biden administration failure up and once again was reminded of their woke, climate change, DEI policies that put our hardworking farmers last. Thank you to @POTUS for getting this done!

Representative Tracey Mann: No one fights harder for America’s farmers & ranchers than @POTUS. Thank you President Trump, @SecRollins, and @USTradeRep for your leadership. This is the art of the deal. Promises made, promises kept.
